4 Tips for Surface Kitchen Remodeling

Posted on: 9 March 2016

Your kitchen is likely one of the busiest rooms of your home, so it makes sense that you would want to keep it upgraded. Some remodeling projects don't require a large budget and big installations, but instead are simple things you might be able to handle on your own. These are known as surface remodeling projects, which are just changing the overall look of our kitchen. Here are some tips for completing surface kitchen remodeling.

Change the Knobs and Pulls

An easy and effective way to remodel your kitchen is simply by replacing the knobs and pulls. While painting your kitchen cabinets can also be useful, you might not have the time or energy to accomplish that. A good way to upgrade cabinets is by removing all of the knobs and pulls, as well as with all kitchen drawers, and putting in new ones. All you should need to remove them is a Philips-head screwdriver. Knobs tend to be affordable, but can make a drastic difference in how your kitchen looks.

Paint the Kitchen

If you want to do some painting, that is a surface remodeling project that will transform your kitchen into a brand new space. You can start by painting the walls in your kitchen, making it brighter by painting the kitchen yellow, or going modern and sleek with plain white walls. For a country-style kitchen, consider painting them a soft blue shade. You can also paint the kitchen cabinets, which is easy to do and prevents you from replacing the cabinets entirely if they are looking a little old.

Add an Island or New Stools

This surface remodeling task doesn't require doing any remodeling at all, but bringing in more furniture for your kitchen. Some kitchen remodeling is as simple as adding elements that improve the appearance and function of the kitchen. If you have a large empty space in the middle of the kitchen, an island can be very useful. It gives you more counter space to work with, along with drawers where you can store pots, pans, and other kitchen items. You may also want to get new stools for the counter or island that add to your kitchen function and décor.

Install New Window Treatments

If you have a window in your kitchen, consider installing new window treatments. Something as simple as curtains or blinds in the kitchen can make a big difference in how it looks. You can choose bright and sunny flower patterns, contemporary stripes, or modern solid-color curtains to add to the appeal of your kitchen.
